Let’s stop "tolerating" or "accepting" difference, as if we’re so much better for not being different in the first place. Instead, let’s celebrate difference, because in this world it takes a lot of guts to be different.

Kate Bornstein

Bone Cancer

Rossi broke a claw before Christmas and I clipped it back so it would grow correctly.  Unfortunately it grew back but it was still split.  The vet decided it was best to remove the claw so we had an X-ray done to ensure there was nothing else going on.  The X-ray came back showing that a tumour had grown in the toe and the bone had crumbled away.

Rossi went under the knife and had the toe   removed completely and also lymph nodes in the shoulder of the same leg.  He had a little cosmetic surgery while he was under too.  A little lump between his eyes had appeared and annoyed me more than him.

It took a few months of recovery and tests and Rossi is now back to full fitness and a few grams lighter thanks to the loss of a toe.

Not once did he complain of the discomfort or the weeks of no walks while watching the others having their daily walks.  His first day out consisted of wearing a boot and having a gentle walk down the road to meet some old friends that missed the boys.
